Umeå Renewable Energy Meeting 25-27 March 2015

For the seventh time the Chemical Biological Centre (KBC) at Umeå University, Sweden, organizes the Renewable Energy symposium.

World first for biodiesel

UPM BioVerno renewable diesel to be distributed in Finland

UPM has signed a sales agreement for UPM BioVerno renewable diesel, produced in UPM's Lappeenranta Biorefinery, with NEOT (North European Oil Trade). NEOT specialises in oil and biofuels wholesale. Large Finnish service stations, ABC, St1 and Shell, get their fuels from NEOT.

Nestlé joins alliance for responsible plant-based plastics

 Nestlé has announced that it will work in partnership with the World Wildlife Fund and seven consumer firms to encourage the responsible development of bioplastics, derived from plant materials.
 
Along with Nestlé, the Bioplastic Feedstock Alliance (BFA) will include key fast-moving consumer goods firms.

Highlights

On December 2-3 2013 the first Brazilian-Danish workshop on biorefineries was held in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The workshop was an initiative between University of Copenhagen, the Technical University of Denmark and The Brazilian Bioethanol Science and Technology Laboratory (CTBE). The purpose of the workshop was to explore the opportunities for further collaboration between Denmark and Brazil in the biorefining area.
More than 100 participants from Denmark and Brazil attended the workshop with presentations on biomass, conversion and microbiology within biorefineries from both Danish and Brazilian universities and industry....

Neste Oil sold its first batch of NExBTL renewable diesel to the US market

Neste Oil has recently supplied its first batch of NExBTL renewable diesel to the US market. The fuel, which qualifies as an advanced biofuel in the US, was produced at the company's Porvoo refinery in Finland from waste fats.
